We are missing what could be the very best debate!  I don't think this will offend anyone as everyone will get to hear what they want to hear.  It could be titled "The Great Debate"!

There is no doubt that Mitt Romney is a great debater. He has had dozens of debates with his Republican challengers. The very best debate would be Mitt Romney debating with............ Mitt Romney. He has the luxury of being able to take every position!
This debate would be very fair as both debaters would be very eloquent.  Fact checking wouldn't be necessary as they are all actual quotes.
 I can hear it now:
Mitt asks? "Are you conservative enough Mitt?"  and Mitt replies; "Yes, I'm severely

 Conservative!"

Mitt, "Are you liberal enough?" "Yes, I'm more Liberal than Senator Ted Kennedy!" But Mitt are you a Moderate? Mitt responds: "I'm Moderate, I'm Progressive, and I am not a Partisan Republican."

"Ok, Mitt, what about Climate Change?" "I'm not in this race to slow the rise of the oceans or to heal the planet!"  Do you want to think about that one Mitt,
say's candidate Romney.

"I believe that climate change is occurring. … I also believe that human activity is a contributing factor.” “I believe the world’s getting warmer.  I believe, based on what I read, that the world is getting warmer. And number two, I believe that humans contribute to that.”
"How about those coal fired plants?", Mitt asks. Mitt replies: " Coal plant kills people." Mitt goes on: "I will not create jobs that kill people." "If the choice is between dirty power plants or protecting the health of the people, there is no choice in my mind. I will always come down on the side of public health!" Mitt responds:

"By the way, I like coal. I'm going to make sure we can continue to burn clean coal!"

"Are you pro-life?" Mitt responds: “I’ve said time and again, I’m a pro-life candidate, I’ll be a pro-life president!”

"But, are you pro-choice?" Mitt replies: "I don't support any federal legislation that would limit abortions." Romney emphasized his commitment to supporting a women’s right to safe and legal abortions, “I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country,” he said. “I have since the time my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years, that we should sustain and support it. And I sustain and support that law, and the right of a woman to make that choice.” “I have always been consistent in my pro-choice position.”

"But how will you govern?" Mitt replies: "One of the greatest things about our nation ... is that we're each entitled to have strong personal beliefs, and we encourage other people to do the same. But as a nation, we recognize the right of all people to believe as they want and not to impose our beliefs on other people. I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. " I will protect the current pro-choice status quo. No law would change!" I am emphatic ! The Republican Party was not doing themselves a service by being so vehemently anti-choice."

"Ok, how about on taxes? "I support an across the board 20% cut on all Federal Taxes!" Mitt asks: "But won't that increase the deficit?" Mitt replies: "I won't support any change in taxes that increases the Federal Debt!" Mitt asks: "How about the federal extension of tax cuts? Mitt replies; " The extension is just a temporary little band-aid." Mitt, are you sure? Mitt replies; "I would like to see the payroll tax cut extended."

Mitt says; "Let's move on to stem cell research, Mitt." Mitt replies:
"I will work and fight for stem cell research." Mitt inquires: "Are you sure?" Mitt replies:

"In the end, I am persuaded that stem-cell research was grounded in a false premise."

"Let's move on to immigration." Mitt suggests; "I supported John McCain and Ted Kennedy's 2007 immigration reform, which would provide a pathway to citizenship for those who enter the country illegally." "Are you positive, Mitt?" Mit responds; "Actually, I wants to throw out undocumented veterans and split up families who have been here for decades."

"What about health care, Mitt." "I took on health care for all in Massachusetts's and I'm glad to see that President Obama has done the same thing for the nation." "Are you sure, Mitt?" "Actually, I will repeal President Obama's Affordable Healthcare Act on the first day I'm in office!"

It would be a great debate and everyone would leave happy!

Here is the same "Great Debate" but footnoted, so you can view Mitt Romney making his conflicting statements or, at least, see when, and where, Mitt made those position statements:

There has been a lot of talk about the debates, past and future. We are missing the best debate possible. I don't think this will offend anyone as it everyone will get to hear what they want to hear. All of the quotes are accurate.
